Make a Fabric Lampshade Workshop
Create your own lampshade for a ceiling pendant or table lamp in this hands-on workshop. The workshop will take place during our week-long pop up at the 1697 shop in Faversham.
You’ll learn professional techniques along with Carrie’s practical tips to achieve a clean, beautifully finished shade. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with both your completed lampshade and the skills to make more at home. There will also be an option to purchase take-home kits so you can continue creating in your own time.
A curated selection of fabrics will be available on the day, or you’re welcome to bring your own (minimum size 820mm x 255mm).
Workshops are kept small to ensure a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided. No previous experience is needed.
Date: Tuesday 15th July 2026
Time: 10am – 12.30pm
Location: 1697, 121 West Street, Faversham, ME13 7JB

“The pieces we created were genuinely beautiful and felt really special to take away. Everyone left feeling inspired, proud of what they’d made, and noticeably uplifted.” – Camille, Walnut Gilding Workshop attendee
About our pop-up at 1697
Join us for a week-long pop-up at 1697 from 13–19 July. Set within a beautifully refurbished listed building in the heart of Faversham, the space is dedicated to supporting local artists and makers, offering a place to showcase work and run independent pop-ups.
We’ll be bringing a collection of our handcrafted furniture, lighting, artwork, and homewares, all available to buy. Throughout the week, Carrie will be demonstrating traditional gilding techniques, alongside a programme of hands-on workshops in gilding and lampshade making. A chance to see the work up close, learn new skills, and take something home.
